Steinberger's list of those immigrating to Russia from Leisenwald includes the Johannes Altvater family that settled in the Volga German colony of Kutter.
Johannes Altvater, a farmer, his wife Anna, and son Johann (age 5¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kutter on 8 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 17.
The Facius list records that Johannes Altvatter came from the German village of Leisenwald. The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johannes Altvater came from the German region of Isenburg.
