Hieronymus Ruf, a farmer from the Pfalz, and his wife Theresia arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Neptunus (Neptune) under the command of Skipper Johann Graap.
Hyoronymus [sic] Ruff and his wife Theresia are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dietel where their children are recorded on the 1798 census.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Hieronymus Ruf came from the German region of Pfalz.
