The parish register of St. Aureus & Justina Catholic Church in Bommersheim records that Valentin Schmidt from Hornau, son of Valentin & Maria Elisabetha Schmidt, married on 5 February 1732 to Anna Ursula Jörges, daughter of Johannes Georg Jörges & Anna Margaretha Meister (who had married 26 April 1695). Anna Ursula Jörges had been born 22 April 1704 and died 26 April 1762.
The parish register of St. Aureus & Justina Catholic Church in Bommersheim records that the following children were born to Valentin Schmidt & Anna Ursula Jörges: (1) Peter, baptized 20 January 1733; (2) Kaspar, baptized 25 January 1735; (3) Johannes Georg, baptized 7 May 1737; (4) Johannes, baptized 28 July 1739; (5) Johannes, baptized 30 April 1741; (6) Ursula, baptized 15 October 1742, died 21 August 1743; and (7) Lorenz, baptized 16 August 1744.
Sons Johannes & Lorenz arrived in the Volga German colony of Keller on 12 May 1767.
(1) Johannes Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Barbara arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Лапоминк (Lapomink - a Russian river) under the command of Lieutenant Dmitry Krykov.
Johannes Schmidt (age 30), a farmer, and his wife Barbara (age 19) are recorded on the 1767 census of Keller in Household No. 46.
(2) Lorenz Schmidt (age 25), also a farmer, and his wife Barbara (age 20) are recorded on the 1767 census of Keller in Household No. 47.
Following the destruction of Keller in 1774, they resettled to the colony of Neu-Kolonie.
In 1788, Lorenz Schmidt moved from Neu-Kolonie to Brabander.
Lorenz Schmidt from Keller is recorded on the 1798 census Brabander in Household No. Bn55.
Lorenz Schmidt is recorded on the 1811 census of Brabander in Household No. 55 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Dehler in 1800.
Lorenz Schmidt is recorded on the 1811 census of Dehler in Household No. 8 along with a note that he had arrived in Dehler in 1800.
Lorenz Schmidt and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Dehler in Household No. 62.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johannes Schmidt came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that both Johannes and Lorenz Schmidt came from the German village of Bommersheim in the Kurmainz.
