Johannes Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife, Anna, arrived in the Volga German colony of Nieder-Monjou on 3 August 1767. They are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 Nieder-Monjou census in Household No. 35.
It is not known in which colony they settled.
The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Pfaffenwiesbach.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.
