Martin Ebel [sic], a farmer, and his wife Jakobina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 August 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Martin Göbel, a farmer, and his wife Jakobina arrived in the Volga German colony of Philippsfeld on 17 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 27.
In 1769, Martin Göbel moved from Philippsfeld to Biberstein.
Martin Göbel is recorded on the 1798 census of Biberstein in Household No. Bb02.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Martin Ebel [sic] came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that Martin Göbel came from the German village of Ketzeman.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Göbel family among the Volga German colonies.
