Michael Geist, a farmer, his wife Barbara, and children (Barbara, age 15; Johann, age 14; Anna, age 11; Ursula, age 9; Kaspar, age 5; Balzar, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Michael Geist, his wife Barbara, and children (Gertruda, age 18; Johann, age 14; Anna, age 11; Ursula, age 10; Margaretha, age 6; Martin, age 5; Balthasar, age 3; Barbara, age ½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Michael Geist, his wife Barbara, and children (Anna, age 18; Johannes, age 16; Gertrude, age 14; Ursula age 12; Maria, age 11; Balthasar, age 8; Martin, age 6). They settled in the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou on 23 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 23.

The 1798 census of Ober-Monjou records the following Geist children: Johannes, age 47 (Om35); Gertrude, age 47 (Om32), Margaretha, age 37 (Om 14); Balthasar, age 33 (Om09); Barbara, age 30 (Om33). Anna Geist, age 45, from Ober-Monjou is recorded on the 1798 census of Schönchen (Sn06). Anna Maria Geist, age 26, from Ober-Monjou is recorded on the 1798 census of Husaren (Hr28).

The 1767 census records that Michael Geist came from the German village of Alzey in the Würzburg region.
