Hannß Kleinmann, son of Johannes Kleinmann & Barbar Linninger, was born 28 February 1733 and baptized 1 March 1733 in Auenheim, a few kilometers north of Kehl.
The marriage of Hannß Kleinmann & Barbara Häckel is recorded in the parish register of Kehl on 10 August 1760.
Barbara Häckel had been born 21 December and baptized 23 December 1736 in Wolfisheim, France.
The baptisms of three children born to Hannß Kleinmann & Barbara Häckel are recorded in the parish register of Auenheim: (1) Johannes, born 20 December 1760, baptized 22 December 1760; (2) Barbara, baptized 19 December 1762, died 2 May 1763; and (3) Michael, born 2 April 1764, baptized 3 April 1764.
Johannes Klehmann, a weaver, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 July 1766 on a Russian packet-boat named Svyatoi Nikolai (St. Nicholas) under the command of Midshipman Thomas McKenzie.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dietel on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 8.
In 1789, Michael Klehmann moved from Dietel to Hussenbach.
There are two orphaned Klehmann children, sons of Jakob Klehmann and his unnamed wife, who are recorded on the 1798 census of Dreispitz in Household No. Dr16 along with a note that they are living with relatives in Stephan. They are believed to be part of this family.
David Klehmann from Dietel and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Franzosen in Household No. 78.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Klehmann came from the German village of Oberheim in the region of Darmstadt.
