Johannes Mertz and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Reinhard. Johannes died and his widow, Elisabeth, remarried to Johann David Klinger.
The combined Klinger/Mertz families are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 29.
The 1767 census records that Elisabeth Mertz came from the German village of Flor [Florstadt?] in the region of Isenburg.
