Christian Nickel, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Margaretha Dorothea settled in the Volga German colony of Reinhard on 15 July 1766 and are recorded there in the 1767 census in Household No. 9.

The 1767 census records that Christian Nickel came from the Danish village of Kœrsing.
