Johann Zimmer, a linen weaver (Leineweber), and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 7 May 1766 aboard the galliot named Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Heyer.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 75.
In 1786, Konrad Zimmer and his family moved from Kaneau to Biberstein.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Zimmer was a linen weaver while the 1767 census records that he was a farmer.
