August Emerich, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and son Ludwig Heinrich (age ¾) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the Danish galliot Der Engel Rafael under the command of Skipper Ehlert Kongsted.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that August Emerich came from the German region of Hanau. The 1767 census records that August Emerich came from the German village of Wippenbach in the Hessen-Kassel region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Emerich family among the Volga German colonies.
