Bartholomeus Welsenbach, a fisherman (Fischer) from Franckenland [sic], & Anna Elisabeth Schultz from Franckeland [sic] were married on 29 July 1766 in Pastor Bruns's house in Lübeck. The marriage is recorded in the parish register of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church in Lübeck.
Bartolomeus Welzenbach, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and daughter Margaretha (age 11) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Wachsamkeit under the command of Skipper Jacob Heinrich Sager.
Bartholomeus Weltzebach, his wife Elisabeth, and daughter Margretha (age 11) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Orphan Margaretha Welzenbach (age 13), daughter of the deceased Bartel Welzenbach, settled in the Volga German colony of Semenovka on 24 July 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 23 along with the Michael Flanz family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Welzenbach and Flanz families.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that this Welzenbach family came from the German region of Franken (Franconia).
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
