Discussion & Documentation

Nikolaus Schönberg, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Henrich Niemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6.

The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Schönberg came from the German village of Osterby in Holstein.
