Lorenz Grimm, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Schuck on 18 July 1766. He and his wife are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 27.

In 1792, Lorenz Grimm and his wife moved from Schuck to Volmer. In 1792, Lorenz Grimm and his family moved from Franzosen to Volmer.

The 1767 census records that Lorenz Grimm came from the French village of Dahn.
