Klaus Behrens, a farmer, his wife Anna, and [step-]children (Johann Gottlieb [surname not recorded], age 19; Anna Magdalena [surname not recorded], age 14; Joachim Georg [surname not recorded], age 9; Anna [surname not recorded], age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard a Danish galliot named Der Engel Rafael (Archangel Raphael) under the command of Skipper Ehlert Kongsted.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 23.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Klaus Behrens came from the German region of Holstein. The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Berns came from the German village of Lonez in the Holstein region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Behrens family among the Volga German colonies.
