Discussion & Documentation

Georg Gerhauser, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Katharina, and sons (Andreas, age 17; Joseph, age 10; Georg, age 6; Bartholomaus, age 2-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Mariental in Household No. 71.They had settled in Mariental on 14 June 1766.

In 1787, Georg Gerhauser and his family moved from Mariental to Graf.

The 1767 census records that Georg Gerhauser came from the German district of Hohenburg.

[Some translations have recorded this surname as Herrhauser, but it appears that Gerhauser is more accurate based upon documents in Argentina.]
