Discussion & Documentation

There are two Pabst families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a barque named Fortitudo (Fortitude) under the command of Skipper John Scott. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Sebastian Bapst [sic] from Langenschwartz & [Anna] Maria Schneider from Fischborn married 14 May 1766 in Büdingen.

Sebastian Pabst, a farmer, and his wife Anna [Maria] arrived in Oranienbaum.

Sebastian Pabst, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria are recorded on the 1767 census of Krasnoyar in Household No. 46. They had arrived in Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767.

In 1797, Konrad Pabst moved from Krasnoyar to Hummel.

(2) Kaspar Pabst, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Elisabeth, age 20; Johann, age 18; Anna, age 12) arrived in Oranienbaum.

Widow Anna Pabst, a farmer's wife, and her children are recorded on the 1767 census of Krasnoyar in Household No. 36. They had arrived in Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Pabst families came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that  both of these Pabst families came from the German area of Alsfeld in the Darmstadt region. Alsfeld is located west of Langenschwar[t]z.
