Discussion & Documentation

Christian Lissau, a tailor (Schneider), settled in the Volga German colony of Bauer on 20 July 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 16 along with his new wife Elisabeth and orphan Jakob Reichel (age 11). The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Lissau and the Reichel families.

The 1767 census records that Christian Lissau came from the German village of Etingen in the Magdeburg area.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Lissau family among the Volga German colonies.
