There are two Peter families that settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. The 1767 census of Chasselois records that both families came from the German village of Bernkastel in the Trier region. Their relationship to each other is not recorded on the 1767 census, but they are presumed to be father and son.
(1) Johannes Peter (age 78), a farmer, and his family are recorded on the 1767 census of Chasselois in Household No. 17.
(2) Bernhardt Peter (age 32), a farmer, and his family are recorded on the 1767 census of Chasselois in Household No. 18.
Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Peter family relocated to the colony of Louis.
