Johann Gottlieb Michaelis, a single craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 14 July 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 61.

The 1798 census of Katharinenstadt records that Johann Gottlieb Michaelis of the appropriate age is living in Household No. Ka154.

The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Michaelis came from the German village of Sit [?] in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
