Discussion & Documentation

Johann Vogt, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Bauer on 20 July 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20 along with his new wife, Katharina. A note on the 1767 census records that they relocated to the neighboring colony of Dietel in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Johann Vogt came from the German village of Wiebelsheim in the region of Kurpfalz-Leiningen.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Vogt family among the Volga German colonies.
