Bartholomäus Günther, a single farmer, and his mother Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Lieutenant Gawril Poduzki.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Stephan on 24 August 1767. Bartholomäus and his new wife Maria Elisabeth are recorded on the 1767 census of Stephan in Household No. 4.
In 1796, son Andreas Günther moved from Stephan to Dobrinka.
Johann Christian Günther from Dobrinka and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Oberdorf in Household No. 20.
The 1767 census records that Bartholomäus Günther came from the German village of Albersbach in the Darmstadt region.
