There are two Brauer families that settled in the Volga German colony of Messer on 7 June 1766. Their relationship to each other is not recorded on the 1767 census.
(1) Peter Brauer, a farmer, and his wife Katharina Margaretha are recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 4.
(2) Wilhelm Brauer (age 11), son of the deceased Michael Brauer, is recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 10 along with his mother and her new husband, Johann Meng.
The 1767 census records that Peter Brauer came from the German district of Brandenburg. The origin of Wilhelm Brauer is not recorded on the 1767 census of Messer.
