Johann Roth, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Ambrosius, age 21; Johann, age 17¼; Lorenz, age 13; Anna, age 7; Regina, age 5¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Schilling. Son Ambrosius is recorded there on the 1775 census in Household No. 81.
In 1791, Ambrosius Roth and his family moved from Schilling to Beideck.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Roth came from the German region of Isenburg.
