Abraham Guckes, son of Johannes Guckes (1680-1756) & Agnes Gebbert (1682-1760), was born on 21 June 1726 in Albig.
Abraham Guckes & Anna Maria Albiger were married 13 May 1754 in Albig. Anna Maria Albiger, daughter of Johann Georg Albiger & Anna Elisabeta Weber, was born 11 September 1726 in Bermesheim.
The baptisms of the following children born to Abraham Guckes & Anna Maria Albiger are recorded in the parish register of the Evangelical Kirche in Albig: (1) Agnes, born 5 April 1757; and (2) Johann Philipp, born 12 February 1761.
Abraham Kukkus, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann, age 14; Agness, age 11; Philipp, age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus on 26 June 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 1 with Abraham is recorded as the colony's mayor (Vorsteher). The colony was named in his honor.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Abraham Kukkus came from the German region of Pfalz. The 1767 census records that Abraham Kukkus came from the German village of Alsbach [Albig] in the Kurpfalz.
