Johann Andreas Craß [sic], son of Carl & Barbara Craß, was born 11 January and baptized 12 January 1740 in Niederhofen.

Andreas Grass and his family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein), arriving in Flensburg on 4 July 1761 as a servant of Michael Fritzle.

He joined the migration to Russia and settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 15 April 1765. Andreas Krassel [sic] is recorded on the 1767 census of Dobrinka in Household No. 54.

The 1798 Census of Galka records Andreas Grass from Dobrinka in Household No. Gk26.

The Eichhorns record that Andreas Grass came fom the German village of Niederhofen, Amt Brackenheim, Württemberg. The 1767 Census records that Andras Krassel [sic] came from the German village of Niederhof in the Württemberg region.
