Discussion & Documentation

Johann Valentin Suppes was born about 1703 and died 6 June 1761 in Stockhausen.

He married Anna Maria Moor. The parish register of Stockhausen records the births of the following children born to Johann Valentin Suppes & Anna Maria Moor: (1) Johann Georg, born 14 October 1738, died 4 December 1738; (2) Johann Konrad, born 22 November 1739; (3) Anna Sophia Dorothea, born 26 August 1742, died 15 November 1742; (4) Johannes, born 4 November 1743, died 9 May 1747; (5) Johann Georg, born 10 October 1746; (6) Anna Barbara, born 5 November 1748; (7) Anna Elisabeth, born 13 December 1751.

Anna Maria Suppes née Moor died 8 October 1753 in Stockhausen.

Johann Valentin Suppes remarried on 4 February 1755 to Anna Barbara Schneider.

The parish register of Stockhausen records the births of the following children born to Johann Valentin Suppes & Anna Barbara Schneider: (1) Johann Wilhelm, born 30 November 1755; (2) Anna Elisabeth, born 22 July 1757, died 6 January 1828 [in Stockhausen]; (3) Johannes, born 8 December 1759.

Konrad Suppes, a single farmer, and Georg Suppes, a single farmer, arrived together from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named St. Johannes (Saint John) under the command of Skipper Carstens Stahl.

They are recorded together on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767, and they both settled in Hussenbach. Their relationship to each other, if any, requires additional research.

(1) Konrad Suppes and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Hussenbach in Household No. Hs022.

Konrad Suppes and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 22 along with a note that Konrad had died there in 1799.

(2) Johann Georg Suppes and his two sons are recorded on the 1798 census of Walter in Household No. Wt036.

The death of Georg Suppes in 1804 is recorded on the 1811 census of Walter in Household No. 36.

Johann Heinrich Suppes, son of this Johann Georg Suppes, is recorded on the 1811 census of Walter in Household No. 36 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Hussenbach in 1803.

[Johann] Heinrich Suppes from Walter is recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach (along with his son Jakob, age 1½) and a note that he had arrived in Hussenbach from Walter in 1805.

Heinrich Suppes must have died before 1816 and his widow remarried to Christoph Heinze because Jakob Suppes and his brother Adam are recorded as stepchildren of Christoph Heinze on the 1834 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 112.

This Adam Suppes moved from Hussenbach to Dobrinka in 1835 and is recorded there with his family on the 1850 census of Dobrinka in Household No. 201.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that they both came from the German region of Riedesel.
