Johann Friedrich Kratz, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and daughters (Sophia Margaretha, age 5; Elisabeth Barbara, age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Bauer in Household No. 40. They had arrived in Bauer on 20 July 1766.

The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Kratz came from the German village of Treto in the Holstein region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Kratz family among the Volga German colonies.
