Widow Susanna Martha Kuhlmann and her sons (August Christian [age not recorded]; Matthias, age 18; Peter, age 15), all weavers, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Der Jäger under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Households No. 5 & 58.
The 1767 census records that the Kuhlmann family came from the German village of Ober-Ramstadt in the Darmstadt region.
