Peter Diebenau, a farmer, his wife Anna, and daughters (Katharina, age 5¼; Margaretha, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Maria Sophia under the command of Skipper Johann Bauert.

Peter Diebenau, his wife Anna Margreta, and daughters (Catrina Dorothea, age 9; Margreta Elisabeth, age 3) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that the mother Anna Margareta and daughter Margreta Elisabeth died en route.

Peter Diebenau, a boilermaker (Kesselmacher), and his daughter Dorothea (age 11) are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 72 along with a note that his wife died during the trip from St. Petersburg to Russia on a transport under the command of Lieutenant Dittmar. They had arrived in Stahl am Tarlyk on 19 August 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Peter Diebenau came from the German region of Mecklenburg. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Rostock in the Mecklenburg region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
