Johann Holzmann, a farmer, his wife Gertruda, and his children (Johann [Georg], age 17½; Samuel, age 8; Margaretha, age 16; Katharina, age 14) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 May 1766 aboard the Russian galliot Catharina Eleonora under the command of Skipper Peter Röder.

Johann died and Gertruda remarried to Georg Danner with whom they had arrived in Oranienbaum.

The combined Danner/Holzmann family settled in the Volga German colony of Leichtling on 14 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 34.

Georg Holzmann and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Leichtling in Household No. Lg03.

Peter Holzmann, son of Georg Holzmann, is recorded on the 1834 census of Leichtling records in Household No. 88 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Göbel in 1832.

Peter Holzmann is recorded on the 1834 census of Göbel Household No. 130 along with a note that he had arrived in Göbel from Leichtling in 1831.

Georg Holzmann, son of Georg Holzmann, from Leichtling is recorded on the 1811 census of Preuss in Household No. 43 along with a note that he had arrived in Preuss from Leichtling in 1803.

Samuel Holzmann and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Leichtling in Household No. Lg36. The death of Samuel Holzmann in 1816 is recorded on the 1834 census of Leichtling in Household No. 46.

Bernhard Holzmann, son of Samuel Holzmann, is recorded on the 1811 census of Preuss in Household No. 10 along with a note that he had arrived in Preuss from Leichtling in 1800.

Jakob Holzmann from Leichtling, son of Samuel Holzmann, and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Marienfeld.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Holzmann came from the German region of Bamberg.
