Christian Petersen, a single stocking maker (Strumpfwirker), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Mann und Frau under the command of Skipper Daniel Berg.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 57 along with his new wife Katharina and stepdaughter, Maria Elisabeth (surname not recorded).
Maria Dorothea Peterson and her sister Maria Christina Peterson are recorded on the 1798 census of Warenburg in Household No. Wr122.
It is believed that Johann Karl Petersen recorded on the 1798 census of Dinkel in Household No. Dn11 and Joseph Petersen recorded on the 1798 census of Dinkel in Household No. Dn37 are also descendants of this Christian Petersen.
The 1767 census records that Christoph [sic] Petersen came from the German village of Kleinstadt in the Holstein region.
