Ernst Gottfried Borat, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Anna Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Reinhard on 15 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 7.
The 1767 census records that Ernst Gottfried Borat came from the German village of Schwerin in the Mecklenburg region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
