Discussion & Documentation

Ernst Wiegandt [sic], his wife Francisca, and their children (Peter, age 16; Margaretha, age 14; Wilhelm, age 11; Christina, age 9; Gertruda, age 3; Elisabeth, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Hans Karholm.

Ernst Wigand [sic], his wife Franciska, and his children (Peter, age 16; Wilhelm, age 14; Margaretha, age 11; Christina, age 9; Gertruda, age 3; Elisabeth, age1) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that the youngest daughters Gertruda and Elisabeth died en route.

Ernst died and Francisca remarried Jakob Fey. Francisca then also died. The surviving Wiegandt [sic] children (Peter, age 16½; Margaretha, age 14; Wilhelm, age 11; Christina, age 9½) are recorded on the 1767 census in a list of Beauregard recruits (Household No. 23) along with Jakob Fey and his new wife, Charlotte.

In 1797, Johann Konrad Wiegandt [sic] moved from Zürich to Biberstein.

Peter Weigand along with his family and Wilhelm Weigand along with his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zürich in Households No. Zr21 & Zr22 respectively.

Konrad Weigand from Zürich and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Biberstein in Household No. Bb38.

The death of Konrad Weigand in 1818 is recorded on the 1834 census of Biberstein in Household No. 91.

Neither the Oranienbaum passenger list nor the 1767 census record from where this Weigandt family came.
