Discussion & Documentation

Johann Heinrich Wukert married in Büdingen on 29 September 1763 to Anna Susanna Euler, daughter of Georg Wilhelm & Albertina Wukert. She had been baptized 14 August 1740 in Büdingen.

The baptism of their son Johann Heinrich is recorded in the parish register of Büdingen on 4 July 1764.

Heinrich Wukert, his wife Anna Susanna, and their son Johann Heinrich (age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the Russian boat Swjatoy Pawel under the command of Midshipman Fyodor Sornev.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Balzer on 18 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 77 along with one-month-old Johann Wilhelm.

The 1775 census of Balzer records Heinrich Wuckart [sic], his wife Susanna, and their children: Heinrich (age 11), Konrad (age 5), Andreas (age 3), and Wilhelm (6-months).

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Heinrich Wukert was a stone mason while the 1767 census records that he was a farmer.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Heinrich Wukert came from the German region of Isenburg.

Wuckert Family in Sarepta

Parish registers in Sarepta record that Andreas Wuckert was born 17 August 1771 in Balzer and that the Wuckert family had relocated to Sarepta on 20 May 1788. The movement tables that accompany the 1798 census of Balzer record that this family moved from Balzer to Sarepta in 1796.
