There are two Lembach families that settled in the Volga German colony of Luzern. Both are recorded on the 1767 census in a list of Beauregard recruits, but their relationship to each other is not recorded there.
(1) Paulus Limbach, a farmer, his wife Regina, and daughter Margaretha (age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.
Paul Limbach, his wife Margretha [sic], and newborn daughter Sophia are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Sophia died in route.
Paul Lembach (age 34), a barrel maker (Fassbinder), and his wife Regina are recorded at No. 40 on the Beauregard List.
They are recorded on the 1798 census of Luzern in Household No. Lz41.
(2) Anton Limbach, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.
Anton Lembach [sic] and his wife Margretha [sic] are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Margretha died in route.
Anton Lembach (age 27), a barrel maker (Fassbinder), and his [new] wife Margaretha are recorded at No. 41 on the Beauregard List.
They are recorded on the 1798 census of Luzern in Household No. Lz35.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both Paulus Limbach and Anton Limbach came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 Beauregard List records that both of these Lembach families came from the German region of Lohr.
