Gottfried Köpp, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Anna Eva, age 11; Johann Gottfried, age 9; Rosina, age 1½) immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in the city of Schleswig on 9 May 1761.
They were dismissed from the Danish colonies in 1763 and joined the migration to Russia.
Widower Gottfried Köpp and his surviving son Johann Gottfried (age 16) settled in the Volga German colony of Fischer on 28 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20 along with Gottfried's new wife, Anna Maria.
The 1767 census records that Gottfried Köpp came from the Polish village of Berboe and that Anna Maria came from the German village of Lanzberg in the Brandenburg region. The Eichhorns record that Gottfried Köpp came from Friedeberg, but was originally from Poland and had moved to Brandenburg in Prussia before moving to Friedeberg.
