Franz Braun, a tailor (Schneider), his wife Katharina Dorothea, and children (Lenfike [?], age 9; Katharina Dorothea, age 3; Johann Franz, age 1) settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 1 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 49.

Before 1834, Johann Baptist Braun and his family relocated to the colony of Husaren and Georg Braun relocated to the colony of Degott. Also before 1834, Christian Braun relocated from Husaren to Louis.

The 1767 census records that Franz Braun came from Austria.
