Discussion & Documentation

Andreas Barberich, a farmer, his wife Anna, and son Mathias (age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Göbel on 20 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 50.

In 1790, Johannes Barberich moved from Göbel to Semenovka.

In 1821, Friedrich Berverich moved from Semenovka to Pfeifer.

The 1767 census records that Andreas Barberich came from the German village of Rengshausen [?] in the Kurmainz region.
