Johann Binsler [sic], a farmer, his wife Anna Kunigunda, and children (Maria Katharina, age 18; Johann Jakob, age 5) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 31 May 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Vergoldete Weintraube (The Gilded Grape) under the command of Skipper Joachim Hermann Andersen.
Johann Jakob Benzler (age 5) is recorded on the 1767 census of Warenburg in Household No. 11 along with his sister and brother-in-law Melchior Lang.
In 1788, Johann Jakob Benzel [sic] moved from Warenburg to Dinkel.
Johann Jakob Benzel [sic] from Warenburg and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Dinkel in Household No. Dn27.
The death of Johann Jakob Benzler in 1822 is recorded on the 1834 census of Dinkel in Household No. 30. His descendants are recorded on the 1834 census of Dinkel in Households No. 30, 55, & 68.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Binsler [sic] came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census does not record from where Johann Jakob Benzler came.
