Discussion & Documentation

Johann[es] Wunderlich, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Maria, age 15; Anna, age 9; Johann, 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Janson.

Johann Wunderlich, his wife Barbara, and children (Maria, age 16; Anna Maria, age 9; Johan Adam, age 8) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that wife Barbara died en route.

They are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits that is attached to the 1767 census in Household No. 127.

In 1786, Adam Wunderlich moved from Nieder-Monjou to the Caucasus.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Wunderlich came from the German village of Haigerseelbach [?] in the Nassau region.
