Johann Heidel, a farmer, his wife Marianna, and children (Michael & Hans Georg, both age ¼) settled in the Volga German colony of Graf on 10 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 4.

The 1767 census records that Johann Heidel came from the German village of Mannheim in the Kurpfalz.
