Peter Schwabecher, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Elisabeth, age 16; Johann, age 13; Mathias, age 10; Anna, age 5½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.

Peter Schwabacher [sic], his wife Elisabeth, and children (Elisabeth, age 16¼; Johannes, age 13; Matheus, age 10¼; Anna Maria, age 5½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that son Matheus disappeared while they were in the Vashinski Pogost [the historical name of the north-east region of the Novgorod district in the 15th-18th centuries].

They settled in the Volga German colony of Ernestinendorf on 3 August 1767. Peter Schwabecher and his children are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 15 along with his new wife Katharina (age 28) and stepson Nikolaus Diehl (age 12). The 1767 census also includes a note that the family relocated to the colony of Biberstein in 1768. However, the Movement Tables of the 1798 census record that in 1769, Johann Schwabecher and his family moved from Ernestinendorf to Schönchen.

In 1788, Johannes Schwabecher moved from Paulskaya to Näb.

The 1767 census records that Peter Schwabecher came from the German village of Griedelbach in the Braunfels region.
