Johannes Bauer, son of Johann Bauer & Elisabeth Stumpfen, was born 19 September 1728 in Peppenhöchstädt.
He married on 27 January 1755 in Peppenhöchstädt to Margaretha Kleebauer, daughter of Johann Kleebauer from Boxbrunn.
The births of the following children born to Johannes Bauer & Margaretha Kleebauer are recorded in the parish register of Peppenhöchstädt: (1) Friedrich, born 15 November 1755; (2) Johann Friedrich, born 8 January 1757, died 1 November 1757; (3) Margaretha, born 5 October 1759; and (4) Maria Magdalena, born 4 April 1761.
Johann[es] Bauer, a farmer, his [new?] wife Elisabeth, and children (Friedrich, age 15¼; Margaretha, age 9; Magdalena, age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
Joh. Bauer, his wife Elisabeth, and children [ages not recorded] (Friederich, Margaretha, Magdalena) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Orlovskaya on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 44.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census records that Johannes Bauer came from the German region of Bayreuth.
