There are two Engelhardt families that settled in the Volga German colony of Grimm. They both immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Flensburg on 29 May 1762. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Sebastian Engelhardt, his wife Katharina Elisabeth, and children (Anna Sabina, age 2; Johann Adam, age 2-months) arrived in Denmark.
On 5 August 1763, they are recorded on the farmstead "Königshof" in the Danish colony of Friderichsfeld.
The parish register of Sörup [Denmark] records on 8 June 1763 the baptism of Johann Adam Engelhardt, son of Sebastian & Catharina Elisabeth Engelhardt.
They are last recorded among the Danish colonies on 12 January 1765. They joined the migration to Russia.
Widow Katharina Elisabeth Engelhardt and her family are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 17.
(2) Philipp Adam Engelhardt, his wife Elisabeth, and daughter Katharina Barbara (age ¼) arrived in Denmark and swore allegiance to King Friedrich of Denmark on 4 June 1761.
On 20 June 1763, they are recorded on the farmstead "Holsteins Hof" in the Danish colony of Friderichsheide.
The parish register of Sterup [Denmark] records on 25 February 1763 the baptism of Catharina Barbara Engelhardt, daughter of Philipp Adam & Elisabeth Engelhardt.
They requested permission to leave the Danish colonies on 24 April 1765 and joined the migration to Russia.
They are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 57.
Philipp Engelhardt and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Grimm in Household No. Gm145.
The Eichhorns record that both of these Engelhardt families came from "der Region bei Sulzfeld, Herrschaft von Göler von Ravensburg, Ritterlicher Kanton Kraichgau."
