Discussion & Documentation

An article by Wilhelm Funk records the following going to Russia:

Joh. Mich. Trap, a cloth maker (Zeugmacher) son of the deceased Joh. Mich. Trap, a linen weaver (Leinenweber) in Dünkelbühl, & Kunigunde Lenszner, daughter of Friedrich Lenszner, a farmer (Bauer) in Schlüsselfeld, Catholic, were married on 5 May 1766 in the Lutheran Church in Wöhrd.

[Johann] Michael Trapp, a weaver (Tuchweber), and his wife Kunigunde arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard the galliot Der Jan under the command of Skipper Markus Dragun.

Michel Trapp and his wife Conigunda [sic] are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 15 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 49.

The 1767 census records that Johann Michael Trapp came from the German village of Dinkelsbühl in the Schwaben region.
