Michael Demond, a bike? maker (Radmacher), and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.
They are recorded on a list of colonists recruited by Beauregard in Household No. 144 that is attached to the 1767 census along with a note that they relocated to the Volga German colony of Schönchen in 1768.
In 1789, Georg Dumont and his family moved from Luzern to Schönchen.
The 1767 census records that Michael Demond came from the German village of Niederberg.
