There are three Demond families that all arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 28 August 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich (The Young Heinrich) under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann. Their relationship to each other, if any, requires additional research.
(1) Johannes Demond, his wife Maria, and son Georg (age 15) arrived in Oranienbaum.
His wife died, and Johannes remarried to Walpurga, the widow of Anton Regner. She also died, and Johannes remarried to Barbara.
Johannes Timant [sic], a farmer, his wife Barbara, son Georg (age 16), and stepsons (Andreas Regner, age 12; Anton Regner, age 11) are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits (Household No. 116) appended to the 1767 census of the Volga German coloniesalong with a note that they relocated to the colony of Luzern in 1768.
Georg Demond (age 42) from Luzern and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Schönchen in Household No. Sn41.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Dimon came from the German region of Rehbach.
(2) Michael Demond, a bike? maker (Radmacher), and his wife Maria arrived in Oranienbaum.
They are recorded on a list of colonists recruited by Beauregard in Household No. 144 that is attached to the 1767 census along with a note that they relocated to the Volga German colony of Schönchen in 1768.
In 1789, Georg Dumont and his family moved from Luzern to Schönchen.
The 1767 census records that Michael Demond came from the German village of Niederberg.
(3) Adolph Demond, a single man, arrived in Oranienbaum. It is not known whether he actually made it to the Volga German colonies.
