Johann [Michael] Stadt, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Frau Catharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Jenßen.
Joh. Mich. Stadt and his wife Maria are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Orlovskaya on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 54.
The Movement Table accompanying the 1798 census of Orlovskaya records that Dorothea Stadt, daughter of Michael Stadt, married in 1790 to Christian Depfer in Kaneau.
Dorothea Depfer née Stadt (age 24) from Orlovskaya and her husband are recorded on the 1798 census of Kaneau in Houseohld No. Kn08.
Gottlieb Friedrich Stadt (age 22), presumed son of Johann Michael Stadt, and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Orlovskaya in Household No. Or34.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johann Michael Stadt came from the German region of Mainz.
