There are two Lorey families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Frau Catharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Jenßen. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Johannes Lorey, a farmer, his wife Anna, and [step-]daughter Magdalena [Werth] (age 15) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Johann[es] Lorey, his wife Anna Utilia, and [step-]daughter Anna Magdalena [Werth] (age 12½) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Widower Johannes Lorey, a farmer, is recorded on the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 92. He had settled in Nieder-Monjou on 3 August 1767. Step-daughter Magdalena Werth is recorded in Household No. 92.
(2) Johannes Lorey, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and daughters (Elisabeth, age 11; Anna, age 7; Gertruda, age 4) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Widow Elisabeth Lorey and her daughters (Elisabeth, age 10½; Anna Magdalena, age 8½; Gertruta, age 6½) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that mother Elisabeth Lorey died in route.
Orphaned sisters Elisabeth [Lorey] (age 11) and Magdalena [Lorey] (age 8) are recorded on the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 87 along with the single Friedrich Seibel. There is no relationship recorded between the Seibel and Lorey families.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Lorey families came from the German region of Isenburg. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Stahlberg in the Isenburg region.
