Stephan Fendel, a weaver (Leineweber), and his wife Barbara arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Лапоминк (Lapomink - a Russian river) under the command of Lieutenant Dmitry Krykov.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 52.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Stephan Fendel came from the German region of Augsburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Fendel family among the Volga German colonies.
